For the experts
As an expert, you have a crucial role to play in the integrity of research and the peer review process. RFRE subscribes to the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). You can visit the COPE website to consult all the ethical guidelines for experts. Among the recommendations,
Provide an honest and unbiased review
Declare any potentially competing interests and/or recuse yourself in the event of a conflict of interest. Ensure that your point of view is not influenced by the origins, nationality, beliefs, gender or other characteristics of the authors.
Respect the confidentiality of the evaluation process
Don't share information about manuscripts or reviews during or after peer review, and don't use information from the review process to your own advantage.
Above all, be respectful, educational and constructive.
Make sure your comments are kind and helpful in improving the manuscript. Focus on the work, not the person.
To ensure that readers have access to relevant research reports, reviewers are asked to comment on:
- the article's compliance with the journal's requirements
- the relevance and originality of the article's subject matter
- the relevance of the methodological choices and their implementation
- the interest of the results presented and of the conclusion
- the relevance of the study to professional practice and the lives of users
- the form of the article (comprehensibility, compliance with writing standards, legibility of tables and figures)
